Its been a great week though it has had its ups and downs. Learning how to pace myself and avoid unnecessary stressors so that I can live a healthier lifestyle. Need to work on stress management in order to be successful in other areas of my life, for I'm finding stress can cause me to miss out of some vital things and not do anything at all. School is going well and added Humanities 2 & French 2 to my class schedule. Have been enjoying my books and looking forward to the next 7wks, it will be busy for sure.

On the knitting front, my dishcloth is almost done and its yummy. It feels too good to use but I must. Purchased the lovely 2nd skein of Malabrigo I need to make my grandson's Owlie hat and a new lovely scarf. Will be taking a knitting class on Wednesday to make the Calligraphy Fringed Scarf but w/o the fringe. Looking forward to sitting home knitting, cross-stitching and enjoying the wonder of the fall weather.

Off to make plans for upcoming meals, birthday, exercise and homework. Hope you all had a great day!

New day, new beginnings and a new outlook on life. Yup, thats for me and I'm lovin' it. I'm reassessing who I am, where I'm going and what's most important in my life. Yesterday was a very long day that started at 6:30a and ended at 11:30p. I've started my new bedtime of 10:30p during the week and am trying to find the right wakeup time. I don't think 6:30a is it haahaa. By 9p, I was ready for bed and no where near home. The purpose of these time changes is to get ready to become a full time student and transition into teaching. I'm looking forward to the new endeavors, however, discovered being a night owl and sleeping in late isn't going to help me. Hopefully, in another month I've developed the habit and will be early to bed and early to rise which supposedly makes one healthy, wealthy and wise.

On the knitting front ~ I'm working on a lovely Garterlac Dishcloth in Sugar n Creme's landscape. Its so soft and pretty, pics soon. I've enjoyed allowing myself the freedom to do the things I love again. I'm scheduling time to do these things so that I'm no longer deprived or stressed by life. Knew I missed my joys but didn't truly realize how much until I held that yarn and felt my body relax. Now to make beautiful things for my grandson...I've got my mojo back. LOL

Simple Stress Relief

Its been a great day already. Though I awoke much later than I'd like, I'm doing wonderful. Had the greatest feeling as I held a ball of cotton yarn. Aahhh, what a lovely stress reliever. Me thinks I need to make a dishcloth today.

Tomorrow is "I love yarn day" so I plan to spend my free time touching, holding, and knitting some lovely yarn. What are you doing to celebrate this glorious day?

Been a long time

Wow, its been 6 months since I last posted. Yikes, I think I'm a little too busy for my own good. Its ok, I'm enjoying the ride and looking forward to resting when its all over.

Update ~ I'm working on completing my associates degree in liberal arts. I'm busy searching for the university that will be a perfect fit for me so that I can earn my bachelors. I've been dreaming of this day for a long time and I'm can't believe I'm here. I took a campus tour last week to a school I just knew was the one and it turns out I didn't feel at home there so I'm on the search. I feel like a teenager who has been set loose to pursue all they can be :D

Life is really busy to include me becoming a grandmere this coming January. I can't wait to meet my grandson. It truly will be a new experience for me and my Riley. January will be my new beginnings for this reason and so many more to include possibly moving onto the next level in my education.

On the knitting front ~ I've finished several little projects and need to get back into knitting. I've allowed the busyness of working 2 part time jobs and school to take away my stress reliever. I'm surrounded by several expecting mothers so that should be motivation enough to make some things lol. I'll post pics soon of my FOs to include the precious Owlie Sleep Sack I made for my grandson.

Time to get back to planning ~ I start 2 new classes on Monday and will start a new CM discussion, so need to tweak my schedule for these and my knitting.

Its been 2 weeks since my last post and I'm doing well. Enjoyed a relatively quiet spring break that was filled with lots of sleep, knitting, making new friends and simply doing nothing. Had plans to take a trip, to go shopping and all that but ended up staying home. It turns out that it was one of the best decisions I'd made in a long time.

No new progress on my move since I've been taking everything a little slower than before. I have been spending time with friends and myself contemplating what it is I want along with doing my school work. I've managed to get school under control and feel a little more confident about finishing up this semester. Started a new class ~ American Government and Politics, not really liking the textbook but it is rather interesting. Voice lessons improved a little since I rested my vocal cords but still need to learn how to do breathing and warm up techniques. No worries, I'll get a handle on it in time. Its only been 8 years since I last sang lol.

On the knitting front, I've planned 6 new projects and started on the socks but unfortunately had to frog them. The pattern I'd chosen was Yarn Harlot's Earl Grey Socks which has a lovely cable down both sides but the yarn I've chosen is too busy. So tonight I'll cast on for a simple pair of men socks that will compliment the varigation of blacks/greys. I'm making birthday gifts ~ pair of men socks, a hat, a pr of hand warmers, dishcloth & towel set. I'll be keeping busy for the next few weeks along w/homework.

Well back to work for me. Hope you all are doing well and enjoying the first weeks of spring. ;D

Been a long time

Well, I've been through some mess that only I can get myself into. I've strayed far from God's perfect will and now starting to see what is so not right about my life. However, the good news is, God is forgiving, loving and more than able and willing to help me get my act together.

There are so many wonderful things He's doing in my life right now. There are amazing people He has allowed to be a part of and there are those He has seen fit to remove. I'm on an adventure and I can't wait to see what's next. I know its going to be awesome because I serve an awesome God.

Now to apply for jobs and school where He has seen fit to move me. I was scared but now I'm excited. Let the adventure begin. ;D

Look at me slacking already lol. Its been a very good week overall. I'm more peaceful, calm and simply enjoying where I am in my life. School started yesterday and I'm so excited. Heehee, I'm such an overachiever and nerd it ain't even funny. Its been interesting and I've wondered how I'd spend my days once my season of homeschooling was over. Now I know and its totally awesome.

This semester I'm taking the following:

Computer Concepts ~ 1st 8wks course ~ one I can teach in my sleep lol

Physical Science ~ 2nd 8wks course

French 1

Fundamentals of Music ~ my fun class

Voice Lessons

College Algebra

Purchased my books and spent a whooping $400 but its good, Uncle Sam paid for it..thanks big guy. I'm looking forward to this semester, gearing up for the transfer to OSU. Starting to give thought to where I want to teach when I'm done. East coast is calling me but I'm thinking west coast because I've never been and it would be an adventure. We shall see and whatever the future holds, I know that I'll enjoy every single moment of it.

On the knitting front...my OSU scarf is not moving along at all. Its an easy pattern I've done several times but the author is right it doesn't go very fast on large needles lol. I just need to sit down and watch a movie or listen to a book so I can get 'er done ;). Need to pick a project for sock yarn kal and need to finish socks for my friend in NYC. I like being busy and I like having things to do w/my hands and mind. I'm thinking 2011 is going to be an excellent year for me.

Yesterday, apparently wasn't very eventful since I didn't post. Today wasn't either. I spent time cleaning my room which I'd neglected for almost 3wks. Did a little planning for school and organize my coupon piles to be clipped but really didn't do much but sleep. Work was smooth which was better than yesterday. I've already gotten ready for bed and will turn off the lights shortly.

Feeling accomplished, complete and content. Not concerned about one thing and it feels absolutely wonderful. No knitting today and can't find my needle bag. Hopefully will locate it tmorrow.

Well, off to sleep now....more tomorrow ;)

Its been a great weekend. I've been housesitting and have taken the time to rejuvenate. The art of simply being is marvelous. I've birdwatched, spent time gazing at the lake and reading. I've even gotten in some knitting and watched several of my favorite tv shows.

In preparation for returning to work and school, I've started working on a daily schedule and trying to figure out a menu plan for 1 or maybe 2 so I've leftovers for lunch. Its harder than it appears for I'm so use to making dinner for 5+. I'm almost completely registered for school which is going to be a heavy load this year being that I will be attending 2 schools while working 2 pt jobs. I've decided that my social life must cease for now and focus on moving forward w/my career. I can't wait to return to the classroom and it would give me the freedom to travel and have a decent social life. So the sacrifice now is worth it. Also by cutting back my social side, I can spend time on developing me so I can be all that I'm designed to be.

Knitting...my Stashalong group has started up for the new year. I've posted updates and I've planned our first kal within a kal. Its called "not just for socks," which uses sock yarn to create whatever you desire. Though sock yarn is not consider stash, it still deserves to be reduced so we can buy more. lol

That's all for now. Going to continue to relax, listening to music and playing online games. May start listening to my audio book "Eyre Affair," which I've read but want to refresh before reading the remainder of the series. Looking forward to an awesome week w/my new plans. I'm excited and can't wait.

Its been a busy week already and its only Tuesday lol. Enjoying the activity though and the desire to get my life back to some of the normalcy it once had. Been dealing w/allergy and sinus symptoms to the point of having laryngitis. Starting to feel better but realize I'll prolly be taking some decongestants for the rest of winter so I don't get a sinus infection like last year.

On the knitting front, started my scarf using 10s but not sure I'm liking the look or the feel. Its rather tight and I really want a more loose. Will prolly frog it and start again w/13s or 15s. Planning some socks since I've a ton of sock yarn that is calling my name. Just checked out a new sock book at the library and can't wait to take time to look through it. Its call Country Weekend Socks by Madeline Weston.

I've been MIA for so long and I know its my own fault. I've allowed school and work to consume my every minute long w/being out late some nights with the crazy people in my life. However, its time to change. I need a fresh outlook, need a new schedule and system of order and I think my blog needs a new look too. Not sure what it will be but I'm thinking brighter, cheerier and definitely updated regularly by me. I can update again from my phone so I will be doing so.

Nothing new on the knitting scene but plans are forming for Christmas presents. No new books read but have a list. Did watch "The Great Game" the new BBC Sherlock series...loved it! Need to starting cooking and baking more instead of eating out so will try to do my weekly menus again even though are for one lol. Still getting use to this empty nest and living by myself but I'm hanging in there. My roommate and her kids are good people and keep me company when I need it.

Well off to look at new blog skins and create a list of things I want to do in 2011. Have a great evening.

Woohoo ~ been a good one today. Feeling pretty fabulous and enjoying the storm. Planning, thinking and simply being is the order of the day. I need to upgrade my resume and make some changes in how I think about my future but I'm no longer concerned for I now know its all in the Father's hands and He hasn't failed me yet.

I did finish my Circus Peds ~ yay! Starting a new pair for a friend then need to finish up a few washcloths. Other than that nothing on the queue but I'm sure w/the new Loops I'll find something like the new sock pattern I brought last week. Churchmouse Classics Turkish Bed Socks...can't wait to find the yarn that would make these look adorable. Which means time to go through my stash heehee.

Well this is my new mantra ~ I've decided to keep my head up and continually remind myself that I'm fabulous. Its been a wonderful last few days and I've managed to get some needed rest. After leaving work on Saturday, I chilled at home w/my kiddos and a few of their friends. It was a lovely evening of doing absolutely nothing.

Early yesterday, I celebrated the birthday of a very wonderful friend, my gift to him was spending time together. I think that is a very priceless gift ;D. After leaving him to celebrate w/family, I got to spend the day with my good friend Sean who promised me he made great coffee. Well, he does haahaa. He has a awesome Cuisinart maker and made us some Starbucks Breakfast Blend. I actually drank my coffee with a little sugar and no creamer ~ what?! Yes, surprised myself because I love my creamer. After watching him do some laundry and drink 2 cups, we headed to his friends Matt & Mindy who just purchased a house. He was to help w/the painting and I was to keep the pregnant lady company. I did for the most part but spent most of my time sitting on her fireplace knitting my dishcloth. Yes, you read that correctly ~ knitting my dishcloth. I started a garterlac cloth back in November trying to keep my hand at knitting and would pick it up here and there but never really doing much. Well progress at last and I've only 2 rows left before bind off ~ yeah me! Don't think my knitting mojo is back but I'm starting to feel like one who loves to knit again along w/live my life to the fullest again.

Off to wrap up the last hour of work at the library then head home for some quiet time. I was planning to visit w/friends tonight but I think a hot bath, lite snack, maybe a movie are the only things I need to do tonite. Have a good one!

Spring in here

Another month has sailed by but not without leaving its mark. Its been very eventful, good and bad though I keep my head up and a smile on my face. Things are starting to calm down into a normal routine now but I believe I've got a ways to go still. So for a quick update on what has been going on round my neck of the woods this past month:

Attended some amazing concerts; wrecked my Explorer ~ its totalled; purchased an '04 Ford Mustang, 40th anniversary edition w/pony package (pic above); finishing up my first semester but biology and I are not friends lol; still working 2 jobs anywhere from 30 to 50 hrs a week; made some new incredibly amazing friends; found out I've had a sinus infection and fluid on my ears for 2 months; and got to go knitting for a little while a few weeks ago ;D

Life has thrown me some major curve balls but you know it is helping to shape me into the woman I desire to be so I'm not gonna complain or give up. The next 30 days will be awesome ~ concerts, trip to NYC, knitting and more time spent w/my wonderful family and friends. Life is good!

Separation, Black holes and College

So life hasn't gotten back to normal. No matter how hard I try I'm having some difficulties bouncing back. So I'm sure most of you would appreciate an update but its not much to share and definitely not much thats wonderful lol.

I've not knitted in almost 6mos which is a real shame. I'd love to knit, have several projects that look wonderful to get started but I've no motivation and now no time. Its been almost 6mos since my husband and I separated. The kiddos do live w/me but for the most part I'm almost living alone. Time sure does fly when you are too busy to stop and look at it. Da Boy is 17yos now and a senior ~ when did that happen. The girls are grown, so they come and go as they please but do check in every once in awhile. ;D

I've done something for me, something that I was suppose to do 7 years ago when we moved to OK ~ I'm back in school. I'm working toward my bachelors so that I can return to the classroom. My passion to be a teacher again has finally motivated me enough to register and I got accepted ~ yeah me! Its been almost 5 weeks now and its kicking my butt but I love every single minute of it. The kiddos have been so supportive and my friends, though some of the locals have been a hindrance in their loving way, have been a huge blessing and support. Its tough and I still work 2 jobs so my life has become a rollercoaster ride that never ends. Some days start at 8a and don't end til 1a and unfortunately, I've been sick on and off for the past 2months which really makes for an interesting day.

However, looking at all this and knowing its only going to get busier, I've got so much to be thankful for that I'm not gonna complain or feel like I've been neglected or anything. Yes, I'm still here and need to check in more. I also need to find those missing packages in the black hole of my livingroom ~ still haven't unpacked and I've been there since October heehee. Life is very good and I'm fortunate and grateful.

I'll try to update more now that I've had to purchase a laptop for school. I definitely miss reading and commenting on all my friends blogs and being apart of cyberspace, but this too shall pass and I will once again be among the lovely knitting, reading, swapping and blogging circles.

~ Lost in 2009 ~

As you can tell by my last post of October 9th ~ life has been outta control. Its still not totally back to normal yet either though I've been working on getting it back on track. Its been a very interesting 4mos of change and I'm still not sure its over. I've not been knitting, have failed to keep up with my friends and even have a few swap packages that have disappeared among the moving boxes.

In the past quarter ~ I've moved, separated from my husband, lost valuable possessions including my hair lol, not been motivated to do anything, work 7days a week and wondering where does all this lead. I will say I've not lost my faith nor am I willing to give up. Though the nights are long and sometimes sleepless, I'm am confident that "this too shall pass." I just wish it hurry up. I will try to be more present in the future but please bare w/me as I continue to transition to a life of single motherhood.

So on this 2nd day of the New Year ~ I resolve to be whom I've been created to be and thats all.

Empty Nest

Who knew it would go by so quickly. That one day you hold this tiny bundle of joy and the next they are grown and gone. No longer needing constant mothering, seeking their own ways and looking to you for advice only when necessary. Who knew that you'd long to still keep them from danger, from suffering and broken dreams. That you never really stop being a mom just now doing a whole new role as one. I miss my babies and their for me but I've come to cherish the memories and look forward to what lies ahead.

Though I don't know for sure what that may be but I'm confident that they will be the loving, caring and God-fearing adults I'd prayed they be. They will stubble and even fall, that's life and I'll be there still when they need me. I'm a mom and always will be. That is a comfort in and of itself.

Nothing new around, still packing and working. Manage to do some knitting and have a few things to wrap up. I'm sure my knitting mojo will return soon but no worries life too short.

Well off to enjoy the quiet and tranquility of an empty nest and some classical music. ;)

Well its been a long time since I've been around this place. I've been very busy with both jobs and family crisis. Life is starting to return to normal but there are lots of changes. Da boy and I will begin school shortly, we've had to postpone that due to the upcoming move. I'd sure like to be settled by the end of the month.

I've not been knitting and thats not really good. I've managed to send my SP14 Pal a package and working on another. This weekend I must crank out a cowl and get that in the mail. I've picked a pattern and the yarn but haven't gotten started.

Well, I'm off to finish up job #1 and go to job #2 ~ double duty day. More later ~ have a great one!

Yay! I'm so excited ~ this is what I got in the mail this weekend. Woohoo! you rock SP, its another from my wishlist. I'm so happy and I've had to hide it from Riley because she loves the cover model lol. Anywho, I'm making progress on my Ophelia ~ 4 1/2 inches with 3 1/2 to go. I'm planning some new projects but nothing else on the needles. Need to make some more dishcloths getting ready for upcoming birthday presents.

Been resting more lately since I'm not working 60 hrs last week and this ~ 35 hrs which is more my speed. Need to start lesson plans for Da Boy but may have to wait til after the move. Gotta go to work now, more soon.

Knittin' & Readin'

Look what I made yesterday while I finished my book, "Catering to Nobody.". This is the Brick Patio done in a shade of peach (exact color later) Sugar n Creme cotton on 7s. Its a lot larger than I expected but I'm planning to make a few more soon. I started a new book, "Heaven's Price" but its a bit much on the details. Hmmm...I've not read anything like this in over 10yrs lol. I've another audio book "Bittersweet" and I'm thinking its gonna be more of the same. Good thing I'm didn't buy these, they are courtesy of the library and I can return them. I also will begin the next read for the WhoduKnit group, "Murder Most Crafty" and I can't wait. I'm enjoying my return to reading ~ its very refreshing.

Today was a pretty good one. Spent most of the am with an upset tummy and laid in bed. I keep a low profile today because of it to allow my body to rest. I'm enjoying the take it slow motto I've acquired. It allows me to really take a look at what I do and why so that I make a better decision of how I spend my time and energy. We went to a Driller's free game tonight. We upgraded to reserve and it rained. The game was canceled and we will be able to use our tickets for another night so all is good. The clouds and rainbow that appeared after the first downpour were amazing, I've included some. I'm off to pickup Da Boy and relax since its still very hot even after a summer shower and a downpour. Welcome to OK summer ~ 102 degrees and only getting hotter.

Ok so I'm sore and very tired. I knew that it might be a challenge today to work both pt jobs but I had too. I will have to get new shoes and stop trying to do so much in one day. LOL Yes, I know people work 8hr days and they are fine but my body doesn't like retail and its hard on my joints even for only 5.5hrs. I'll really have to reconsider this cause my body needs a break.

Anywhoo...I enjoyed working at both places. I had several of my most wonderful clients visit. One set of twins even came in to see cause it was their birthday ~ heehee. They are a riot in a good way. Its nice to help people and see them smile because you take the time to help them. I really do love what I do and it will be hard to stop. The library wasn't as busy as last night so I read a little and checked out a magazine I've not read in forever ~ Today's Christian Woman. I also checked out a book on organizing your home but not for the tips, for the quotes. I leave you with this one and I'm off to bed for I'm very tired. Nite!

thats how I describe my day. ;) I'm not tired and I'm excited about that. I've decided to slow down and take time to do things at a pace that is foreign to me though not unknown. As I get older, I'm finding that I'm liking the slower side to life and its much more enjoyable than I'd ever imagined.

No knitting still but thats ok, there's plenty of time for that. I worked my new job and loved it. LOL I'm a nerd what can I say, nerds love libraries. heehee ;) I'm looking forward to tomorrow nite and seeing how I feel about working both jobs. I'm hoping for the best but I'll let you know.

I'm off to bed now, reading the new issue of All You and looking at this week's coupons ~ haven't done that in forever. More tomorrow.

Feeling Fabulous

it has been a good day, though I worked at the store. I'm discovering that my body isn't made for retail. haahaa ~ its hard on my knees and feet. ;) I'll continue through the holidays and then will make a final decision which will probably be to leave. I love what I do and I love the company but I only get one body.

No knitting these past few days and I'm not motivated to do any. I've made much progress on keeping up with my group studies and I'm even blogging. LOL I'm enjoying thinking of what I will share today. I'm working on my study notes from this morning but I'm a bit tired so that won't get posted til tomorrow.

I'm off to read my book and continue to relax ~ start my new job tonite, yahoo! Have a wonderful Monday!

Little bit of life

Life is moving along rather nicely, I think. I'm working on getting more rest, spending less time working so hard to make a buck and simply enjoying my life again. I realize that I've allowed myself to be swallowed up by what I think I need and neglecting what I really need. At the moment, that would be sleep. So though I really love my retail job and I really like the extra cash, I will have to prayerfully consider quitting and simply work at the library, homeschool and be the keeper of my home. Fairly simply, right ~ now to get it done. LOL

On the knitting front ~ I've finished off only one sock in the Sock Wars. I was assassinated today so I will be sending off the one sock and remaining yarn to my assassin in the next few days. That really wasn't the plan but in retrospect of my life these past few weeks, I really shouldn't have been playing for lack of time and desire. I've still the other four pair of socks to work on and to start my new summer sweater ~ Ophelia but for now I will just rest. Thats a foreign concept for me but I endeavor to practice nonetheless.

Our trips were a success though I'm worn out from all the driving. I drove over 2300 miles this past week and that was way too much driving especially since most was done in 24hr periods. Yikes! I love driving but next time I will be staying overnight so that I"m not exhausted when I arrive or when I get back.

We went to the Charlotte Mason Conference in NC, which was a wonderful time for me. I've been recharged and energized for this last year of homeschooling. Sad but true, its almost over. I've reconnected with many online friends and I've gained new ones. I've also found my passion to write again and you will see more of that soon. ;) I've my conference narrations to post and my thoughts on the studies I'm doing along w/the simpler things for my life. I'm glad we went to the conference for several reasons especially those involving my girls. I believe they are taking the necessary steps to enrich their own lives and to find their purpose.

After the conference we spent a few days w/our extend family in Tennessee. That was wonderful and we need to do that again and for a longer period. I believe we will be heading that way in late July. ;) There is talk of moving to TN but I'll see how that goes, hubby knows nothing about this yet.

We ended our travels by driving from TN to MO for a lovely few days of sunshine and water. Us girls meet up with the boys in Osage Beach, which is absolutely beautiful and sits on Lake of the Ozark. However, the boys had excitement before we arrived, a tornado had touched down near them early on Monday morning, the one I missed by staying an extra night in TN. Thank you Lord. The picture in the previous post was taken at the resort we stay at. I've more pictures and will try to post them over the next few days.

Well, I'm fairly tired and need to go to bed earlier than usual. I start my new job on monday ~ woohoo! So, I'll post more often since I'm back at the library and will not be staying up as late. I also managed to figure out how to post from my phone ~ yahoo!

Life out-of-control

Thats how its been the past few months though I'm finally managing to figure out why and prayerfully considering how to fix it. There is much I could share but there isn't enough time in one day to do so. I've been knitting but its slow going nothing new ~ still working on my CPH, pairs of socks and recently started Sock Wars 4, don't ask. Life has not been as great as I'd hope but I'm confident that this too shall pass. No one told me that mid-life with young adults was no cake walk and that you'd find yourself alot of days wondering who you are and how you got where you are.

We are leaving tomorrow for our annual trip and I'm hoping to sit awhile and renew my spirit. Its been a long time since I've sat still or actually been in the company of like-minded people. Once I return, we will take a family vacation to the lake which I'm looking forward to, then I will begin my new job at the library. Yes, I now work full-time between 2 part time jobs ~ insane it is but the financial status is almost none existent so I must do what I've gotta do.

Keep us in your prayers as we journey cross country and move forward into this phrase of life. I'm only 1 year away from empty nest ~ hmmm that sounds weird. LOL

Life around here has been hectic but I've managed to carve out some quiet and allowed myself to rest. I've not done more than light housework and driving kiddos to work in the last couple of days. I don't plan to do alot in the next few days either since I realize I'm running myself into the ground and its not good. I've been knitting and listening to audio books between my chores which has been great fun. I'm more peaceful too and that I must say is worth every single minute I spend doing nothing. Its hard for me to do nothing but its needed. Another quiz I took actually help me to realize this as well, I may share that one too.

I've finished the first mitten of my WDK Mystery Yarn Ball and started the 2nd ~ halfway done. I've begun working on a Herringbone Neckwarmer for a friend and have plans to do more knitting to including knit night. Yeah me! Haven't been in over 3months. School is coming along and we are getting excited as the summer approaches bringing graduation and our annual trip to NC ~ can't wait.

its been a week and I've not much to report. I'm working more than I normally do and now all the kiddos have jobs. Lord help me. Fortunately, the Lord has helped because I was becoming overwhelmed with the whole schedule thing. I'm readjusting my personal schedule for work and home so I can rest more. I know I need to earn more $$ so I can buy yarn, food, yarn, pay for graduation, yarn but I don't want to do so at the expense of my health and sanity. I'm working on my mystery project and finished another scarf this week ~ yeah. I'm reading Winter Study by Nevada Barr and its good. I'm also reading "Among the Mad" ~ Maisie Dobbs ~ love that character. Off to get some housework done ~ menus, laundry, groceries, etc. Have an awesome day!

I received my Whoduknit Mystery Yarn Ball from Penny. It is too cool and I can't wait to get started. She sent a new book for me to read "No Graves As Yet" by Anne Perry that looks very interesting. She only gave me the first part of the pattern and has taped up the actual pattern which I can't open yet. I only need one missing piece of info then I can get started and know what I'm making. Snow in Spring

Woohoo~ we got snow right on the heals of a thunderstorm. My driveway was a mini pond and now is a slush pond heehee. I played in the snow and took pictures. Yes, I'm a big kid and love snow ~ my jingle is "Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow."

I've been knitting on my CPH, which has now been ripped back 4x - ugh! The first time was ripped all the way to the ribbing cause I had knit too loose. I've ripped back 2 other times due to miss counting for the cables. I just ripped back for the armhole decrease, I was humming along and oops. Its better now, pics on that later.

Wet and cold

Thats our weather for today and I'm not liking it at all. If I hadn't had to be out in it, probably would have been ok. Would've been great to knit, bake and listen to a book. ;) Oh well, that didn't happen and I'm now sitting here wondering what I should write. I thought I had my blogging groove back but apparently I don't. LOL I miss reading blogs more than writing posts but posting is fun.

So here is the boring news ~ I awoke at 8a and went back to sleep and awake again at 9a. Made coffee and took the eldest to the laundry. Didn't like the new coinless machine, its a ripoff especially if you never go back. You stuck w/this debit key that costs a $1. The laundry was clean but for real ~ debit key and .19 to dry for 8 mins. LOL Then I took her home to get ready for work. Drove her to work and headed to the mall since I was schedule to work at 2p. Driving thru the rain/storm, which you couldn't see more than 3 feet in front of you, I was called and told to come in at 5p. More cut hours but I can get out of the rain for a little while. So I went to the library, did some research, ordered our books, printed math pages and paid my fine. ;) Boring I know, then I went home and took a nap. I woke up at 4:15p and went to work. Work was busy, we were shorthanded but productive, I think. Left at 10p and headed home in the rain ~ very cold rain I might add. Then I decided to go to Wally World cause I was hungry. Got some hot link sausages, cheese popcorn, doritos and oreos. heehee love junk food plus there were 4 others at home who would be looking for a snack. ;)

Now I'm sitting here wondering why I told you all this and why I am still cold. I don't know and I'm now going to end this little narrative and go read my book. Have a great one, Nite!

Well, I've officially come to the conclusion that I must start going to bed early in order to accomplish what I need to and feel good about myself. I'm not resting and I'm starting to have some serious issues with memory. Hmm, thats never good. I managed to put my work schedule into my Blackberry incorrectly for today and was late to work ~ 3 hrs mind you. That has never happened to me before, I'm usually too early when I mess up. The sad thing is the rest of the week is in the schedule correctly ~ don't know what I did but I really messed this one up. LOL

I've been working on lesson plans for the past hour and I've narrowed down what we will get done in the next 6 weeks. I've decided to take little pieces at a time and see how it goes especially since I will have to rely on the library for the next few weeks til I've sorted out the storage and garage. I'll post tomorrow our finalized schedule and booklist ~ I'm liking what I've put together and am getting excited about reading alongside my kiddos, its been far too long since I did that. I will also be scheduling eye doctors appts for us all so we can enjoy our lessons. A literature based curriculum can be taxing on your eyesight but I've also planned some audio books so my auditory learner will be happy.

Well, got go to bed now ~ I'm taking Benjamin Franklin's quote to heart and I leave you to ponder it ~ Nite!

Relaxing, traveling and stuff

Hello everyone,

life around here has been moving along rather nicely. I've been doing alot of nothing and enjoying every single minute of it. Knitting has been on hold for the most part but I do have alot of things I'd love to make. :) My CPH is the only thing left to finish on my SAL goals but haven't been motivated since having to rip out the rightside and start again. LOL

I've been on some mini-vacations in the past few weeks. I've made 2 trips to Missouri and am planning another in the next few weeks. My Vegas trip turned out to be a bust ~ they claimed some technicality that is bogus but I'm not mad. I'll upload pics from my trip in the next few days.

I've also been spending more time offline because its been consuming all my free time and making me very tired. I'm not sure how I'm going to balance it but I plan to do so cause updates are necessary. ;)

School is starting to get back on track. I've ordered the graduation stuff, planned our trip to NC and am working on the actual trip details. I will not be able to stay in VA for as long as I've originally planned but I do plan to go to the beach ~ yeah!

I've been in a few swaps, 3 to be exact and I'm feeling good about that. I've actually been working on my groups and doing KALs instead. We've a new one getting ready to start and I'd better get my materials together or else I'll be left behind.

Miss me?!

Yeah I know, I could post more via my blackberry but I am too sore for that. I've been not well for over a week and today it was really bad. What I thought was simply allergy issues now has turned into a mini-cold. I say mini cause I don't have full symptoms but the fatigue is awful. The weather here has made this week impossible and caused most of the symptoms and I just found out that we are going from being really cold to being hot again in two days. Lord help me. I'll get some rest and try not to think about it.

On the knitting front ~ I'm making progress on my CPH and focusing on doing several rows a night so that I can get it done. I've started a pair of toddler socks but had to rip them cause the pattern didn't work out. I'll re-start them by the weekend. I plan to make some dishcloths and washcloths for my co-workers but haven't been motivated, so hopefully this weekend I'll get some of them done since I will not be working. Looking forward to a little R&R in Missouri.

ISE Updating

Whew ~ its been very busy around here along with still not feeling a 100% most days. I've been kntiting, not much but here a little, there a little on my CPH. I recently started a new pair of toddler socks since I was getting a bit bored. I'm not sure what size they will be but hopefully will finish them off.

Yesterday I received my ISE7 package ~ Betty Jean was my pal from Texas. It was filled with an assortment of goodies but my pictures didn't turn out very well. I received baby yarn, several pattern pages of baby stuff from the Knitting 2009 calendar, a lighthouse calendar and a wall planner, some lovely Dairy Milk chocolate ~ yummy and a postcard of Houston. I'm sure I got more stuff too but without the pic or the box in front of me this is all I remember.

As I was taking pictures, I realized I've never taken pictures of my previous scarves ~ modeled that is. So here are pics of all 3 ISE scarves I've received. Enjoy ~ I'm off to an early nite of rest.

I'm done ~ making my lovely scarf. I love the colorway and the pattern, it was an easy knit . Its warm and snuggly. I'm glad I made this one and look forward to making another.

Now to get motivated to finish off my stashalong list. I've only one item left now and I can't seem to get it done. Its my CPH ~ its over a year old and it really needs to be finished up. I'll work on it this week though I really want to start another project. Its the only thing left unfinished, well except for the B2S I have to buy yarn for since it is official ~ the yarn is gone. LOL

I want to make new socks, I want to make a sweater, I want to make dishcloths but for some reason I really am not interested at the moment. Could be the fatigue, the stress, and being sick on an off the past 3 weeks. I don't know but I'm getting excited about receiving packages in the mail and getting DirecTV ~ woohoo. I have sent off my ISE7 package and I will be sending off my KCS4 package in the next day or so. I've all the goodies and I've even scored some local, well to Arkansas, roving for my international pal. Can't wait for her to get that. ;)

I'm looking forward to a mini-vacation soon ~ definitely need it and I can't wait to go to Vegas. Dh and I are finally going, wow its been over a year since we won those tickets. Oh well, better late than never.

Knitter's Progress

I've been busy and unfortunately, sick. I have managed to complete another project ~ woohoo and it is a good thing since I would love to have another swap done.

I'm also working on a KAL w/i KAL project for me ~ Lacy Love Scarf, which is the same pattern as above but modified a little. The February KALs theme is "Love of self" so I choose something red and pretty to make. Here is a progress pic:

The KCS4 is underway and I've just took a roadtrip to a lovely yarn shop in Arkansas and found goodies for my pal. I hope she loves them as much as I did. The yarn shop is called Knit Wicks and its in Rogers ~ downtown area. It was very nice, the trip and the shop. ;) I hadn't been on a roadtrip in a long while so it was nice to get away by myself. I'm looking forward to going soon.

Nothing else to report since we've all been sick off and on for the past week. I'm prayerful that its coming to an end and grateful that I'm off today and tomorrow.

Wow ~ its been over a week since I've been online and it was great. I didn't miss it at all and now will plan to "fast" my online time in the future. It started out as a 2 day commitment that lasted 8 days ~ woohoo! I wanted to unplug to simply relax and enjoy my family during my nonworking hours. I found I was always on either my facebook, myspace or ravelry along with reading blogs and joining groups. I had become addicted to being "on" so I pulled the plug. I've decided to limit my online time and to watch my use on my cellphone too. I need to be social face to face more.

While I was absent, I cooked and baked. I spent time reading my Bible and listening to cds. Talked more with my family and I even got a lot of knitting done. I also realized my life was off balance and had to adjust my work schedule. I've not been well for a couple of months, so rest has been needed ~ got some. Who knew 8hrs of sleep could change your perspective. LOL

I must admit those nasty peri-menopausal symptons are back especially forgetfulness, which triggered the need for change. I've forgotten to do at least 5 important things for other people and that's scary. One of them happens to be the only swap I was in. I don't know what happen but I got the package ready to go and set it aside and forgot it. I know, its the most awful thing to do to someone and I hate when it happens. I thought I was doing good this year since I was only in one not 10 like last year. Guess the last quarter of the year is not a good swap time for me at all. I also forget to get dh a birthday present ~ now life has been too much when you do that. I did manage to make it up to him but that's pretty bad. I hope my swap pal forgives me too.

I'm off to run errands (PO first stop) then catchup on emails, some blogs, my yahoo groups and I may be back w/pics of my FOs. I do know I won't be on all day or for more than an hour, my new rule.

Living Outta Boxes pt 5

Whew! Busy day and life is good. I've been working on my knitting and lesson plans more than trying to get rid of boxes. Lol. I'm ok with this though I know I can't live this way much longer w/Christmas fast approaching. I did manager to clear out the fridge, cut up the leftover turkey, make turkey hash and write lesson plans for the week. I'm finding that I'm getting more productive as I spend more time resting. I work early hours this week and I needs to have plans in place. Hmmm..its menu monday ~ I need to write one up real quick so that's outta the way too.

On the knitting front:
Da Boy's sock had to be ripped back twice. Ugh! I finally figured out I was trying to get it done in a hurry and failed to do the heel turn ~ dummy me! Back on track now ;)

Christmas items ~ this list has changed a few times and I'm sure will change again:
4 pr of socks
4 scarves
3 beanies
1 pr of mitten/gloves for me
10 wash/dish cloths
~ not too hard right?!

Football Challenge ~ managed to finish 10 squares this past week and hope to double that this week ~ need to make 46 more.

Living Outta Boxes pt 4

Ok so there hasn't been much to report since I've not been successful at emptying these here boxes. ;). Though its increasingly difficult to find needed documents (birth certificates), personal items (socks), and just simple things like a checkbook. Thanksgiving wasn't a challenge to my surprise. Everything I needed, I found without a problem especially the new rubbermaid which was still in its original box. Lol

Life is moving along for us. I've been reminded and accept that I can only do so much and that I need to fully rely "lean in, rest on" God for everything. I know this but sometimes you forget because you get so focused on what's in front of you. ;) We did manage to do some school work today and took a field trip on Mon ~ yeah me!

On the knitting front:
Da Boy's socks ~ really bad 2nd sock syndrome around here but now that's over discovered an error and will have to rip it back ~ ouch!

CPH ~ found all missing pieces need to get to work.

B2S ~ still missing yarn ;(

Socks ~ have at least 3pr lined up when da boy's are done

Swaps ~ joined one "ISE7" looking forward to making another scarf

Gifts ~ planning 1 pr of socks, 5 scarves and 1 pr of gloves for me *yes very modest doable list ;)

Baking Day

Whew! I just sat down since I began baking at 1p. I'm not done but I needed to rest my feet ~ don't want them to ache too bad before Friday. I've enjoy myself today, trying new recipes and making favorites. I made a chocolate pudding pie, an apple krisp & pie, a sweet potatoe pie and dinner rolls. The chocolate pie is the only thing not made from scratch.

I've made some of the ingredients for stuffing, made the candied yams, and will finish off the rolls as well as make potatoe salad tonight. I may even cook the collard greens and baste the turkey before going to bed. Riley made triple chocolate chip cookies ~ absolutely delicious.

I've been in a very homey mood, fixed spaghetti casserole last nite and made enough for a house warming present. We are invited out tomorrow and I will take macaroni & cheese and iced tea. We will have cranberry cocktails with our dinner~ yummy.

Well the thumbs are getting tired and I need to check the rising bread. Have a great evening.

Woohoo! I'm 41 yos today and I'm excited. I'm getting a manicure, a new hairdo, being treated to lunch, getting a makeover, buying a new outfit, then going 2-stepping with the girls. Yes, you read that right...I'm a little bit country and I haven't learned so tonight's my nite.

Ok so the cake episode was bad but not as bad as today...I can't find any of our current school books. Dh helped by packing the books that were on the diningroom chairs, which were current term books, but I can't find them. I have my list of what they are but the boxes haven't surfaced and they could be in storage. Deep breath, well we have our Bibles, a math book, and a library down the street...all else fails we do only the basics. ;)

Wow, this could become an adventure with a scavenger hunt thrown in. More later...have a great day!

For the record, its the pits. LOL. You can't find anything when you need it. Yes, I labeled the boxes I packed but remember I don't live alone. ;). Now the problem was...it took 2hrs to make a cake..that's ridiculous. It was because I couldn't find the vanilla, bought too much flour, needed more baking powder so we went to the store. We returned the flour, bought baking pwdr - and ice cream ;), and the vanilla. We returned home and started again...but couldn't find the salt. It has been exhausting but I found the salt along w/the missing vanilla and now we have cake. Whew! That was a lot of work.

Must go now..so I get some. More on living outta boxes soon. Nite!

Still living out of boxes but slowly getting things where they belong. Life has been changing but not ready to share the details yet. I forgot to mention that my new toy is my BlackBerry Curve. I took the plunge and purchased a plan phone which I'm lovin'. LOL I don't like the first bill but its totally worth it since I can keep up w/my email, text all day and use the net. The only down side is I can't access my yahoo groups so moderating, leading and such take a backseat til I can get to the library. I'm looking into getting internet at home again but the freedom of a few bills is sounding really good to me. Yeah I know, I have the car note and insurance but those are necessities. ;)

I'm looking forward to the weekend since it will be one of my last til the new year where I am off the entire time. I will be working for the holidays much like I did when our store opened ~ all the time. It will be ablast though ~ learning new stuff, making moola, and enjoying the season. My birthday is in 19 days...hmm better get a counter up so everyone will remember. I'm a bit excited but you all know how much I love my bday anyway. ;)

The kiddos are doing well though we haven't started school yet ~ gotta find the books. I will work on that this weekend so they can get started monday. It will be nice to be reading again, at least I think so.

A month has gone by...

It has been a long one too. I'm sorry for my MIA but it was unavoidable. Life has been happening and is actually still outta sorts since most of our stuff is in boxes. I need to update with pics, knItting and life but its hard to do from my cell though I am getting the hang of it.

In brief...the following has happened:
* completed fair jobs
* won 2 ribbons - 1st & 3rd place
* rec'd awesome pkgs from my SP12 & ASSS pals
* sent my pkg to SP12 & ASSS pals
* moved to a new house
* bought myself a truck - Ford Explorer..red of course
* increased hrs @ work to pay for truck..lol
* started mtg friends & knitting again

First Day.....

of the best time of year....and I didn't even get to enjoy it. Well I guess that happens when you are busy packing, moving and working. Though I missed the beginning of fall ~ I love the google image above and am excited that my fav time of year is here. I see lots are already talking about fav soups and activities. I'm hoping to share with you all soon but right now life has turn into a tailspin of activity that doesn't include blogging, knitting or any extras...just surviving. I know my life is probably easier than those hit by hurrican ike but nonetheless, I feel as though I've been hit by a hurricane.

Still no pics but I did find my elusive pattern for my CPH ~ yeah! But no knitting til the week of Oct 13th. I'll be looking forward to it. Better go now, need to get more boxes and pack more. Talk w/you all later.

I'm officially on a roll with my fair work. Sorry I've been MIA but its unavoidable. Not only are we working the fair we are in the middle of moving. Woohoo! I'm excited about the move though it comes at a really awkward time with the fair work being 12hr days but its long overdue. More details, maybe, as that is finalized this weekend. My computer access will be very limited since I will not have home connection til the move is over and the fair ~ no library opportunities either. LOL

Anywho ~ I did manage to finish my baby afghan and I entered it in the fair and I entered a completed pair of socks too. They were ones I did in February but they count for being done in the past year. I'll let you know how they did next week after the fair starts.

I've so much to share and tell you but time is limited. I did get a lovely package in the mail from my Autumn Sock/Scarf swap pal ~ wonderful goodies including Mountain Colors sock yarn kit and candy corn. Yummy.

Hello....

How are you good people doing?! I'm doing well and should be in bed but thought a shout out would be nice first. I've been going to bed early since in a week I'll be getting in closer to 1a each night and won't spend a great deal of time online.

Da Boy's bday was ablast though he spent most of his time at the skatepark and stayed over a friends last night. LOL I believe he had a great time and we are very pride of our now 16yr manchild. ;)

I'm almost finished my crocheted baby afghan ~ yeah! Especially since its now 3 yrs ~ that should not happen but it did. I've taught myself to do 2 on 1 circ so I'll be making a pair of monkey socks this week. I hope to be finished before Sat at 9am but if I don't no big deal. I've been not too motivated to knit but need to get my act together and start working on christmas presents and dh's birthday present.

Work is going well. We've had much progress and I'm getting things in order in case I don't do this next year. I thought it best to have a kind of manual for what I do so there is no guess work and not too much teaching by others who need to get their stuff done.

so whats new right?! Its ok especially since I brought it on myself. I started working 2 jobs yesterday and it is taking a toll since I've not gone to bed before midnight in over a month let alone the last 2 nights (I will tonight ~ yeah). I started my fair work and its going well. I went in with a game plan and to do lists and have successfully done about 1/2 of it. This means that it will be a piece of cake to pull this job off. That, my friend, is exciting news. I've decided to enter the fair and I'll tell you more about that after I enter just in case it doesn't work out.

Work at the store is still slow but we managed to get some cleaning done and thats always good especially a store our size and type ~hygiene a big deal. I have not been knitting much since the beginning of Aug but I am chugging along on a pr of footies for Da Boy who turns 16yrs on Sat. Wow ~ time is moving on without me. Its ok, I've cried all I'm going to cry and am just excited for him ~ his friends are having a bday party for him at the skate park. I thought that was awesome.

Well, thats all I've energy for ~ I feel like I've been hit in the head, my nose is stopped up and my throat feels a bit raw. I just finish a fit of sneezing which has caused these symptoms. Not sure whats going on but I believe its an allergic reaction to the carpet fresher hubby used. LOL

The summer olympics has come to an end and so has the Ravelypmics. I'm excited though I've only managed to finish 2 of my 4 events. My sock put was a bust ~ I think I'm burned out on making socks though I did manage to co some ankle socks for the Da Boy and will finish them next week, hopefully. I was going to do WIPs wrestling but I never did find that lost ball of yarn and I got my yarn for my oldest UFO so tangled that I couldn't get it undone in time to finish before the flame was snuffed out at 10:59a my time. Oh well, it was a blast and truly a challenge for me that I look forward to doing again.

I've not been doing much and we are going on a mini-vacation tomorrow. Woohoo! I will be back on Wednesday but then I will be working everyday at the store thru to Sunday. I'm really not looking forward to it but it will help me not have to make up so many hours once the fair ends. That begins next tues too ~ I hope I'm ready. Da Boy has a birthday comin' up too ~ he'll be 16yos. Can you believe it ~ my youngest will hit his first big milestone and I'm not ready. Sorry, but he's the baby and the last one to turn the big "16" so I'm a bit emotional about it but I'm so pride of him ~ he's such a great kiddo.

My knitting ~ I've tried to start my SOTSiii over 6x and I'm hoping to get it started again tonight though I probably should go to bed since I'll be driving for our trip tomorrow. heehee ~ I'm not sleepy, I'm watching bbc comedy and I've had a wonderful time out to dinner with friends after knitting at the coffee shop. It was so much fun though I didn't knit, I crocheted trying to get that old UFO done. I did finally get the yarn untangled thx to help of my friend Kim. ;) I've only 6 more rows of pattern, then the 5 rows of the border. Once I do these then I add the scallop edges and ribbon. I need to find it a home when I'm done since I've been working on this thing for 3yrs ~ most of the dc are too big for it. LOL I've a friend having a babe in Oct ~ I may just give it to them though I do want to make them a pink one. Hmm....I'd better get busy since this took 3yrs, who knows how long the next one will take. These blankets usually only take 4wks, boy have I been slow.

I plan to make another One Row Scarf out of Cascade 220 in a lovely shade of black/grey. I can't wait to get started its for a co-worker who asked me to make her a scarf last year. Yes, I know but you know finding the motivation to knit a scarf and the right yarn and pattern when its a gift take a little time. Its different when $$ or the supplies are provided ~ then I'd have to just get started. LOL

Well, off to knit, read and watch tv. I also must set the recorder for Mystery ~ Inspector Lynley ~ love that handsome man. heehee. Hope you all are having a wonderful nite ~ have a great week.

What is the best thing you've ever received in the mail/post?

I've received some awesome packages in the mail but I'd have to say my very first SP10 packaged would have to be considered the best ~ the yarn, the books, the goodies ~ oh I could go on and on.....but I'll stop especially since my recent SP12 package was awesome too. I love getting packages in the mail which would explain my addiction to swaps heeheee!

What Olympic event would best describe you knitting/knitting style?

ETA ~ My event would probably be the balance beam ~ my fav in my youth ~ since some of my knitting doesn't fit my personality nor my experience level or my available free time creating an unbalance state of being. Though sprinting wouldn't be to far behind since I love to take off on something. Now if I could only finish some of these somethings. ;)

Have you ever entered your knitting (or anything else) in the fair? Would you ever consider it?
Nope ~ though I have signed up to enter 3yos ago but never did finish that lovely blanket. LOL I'm considering it this year now that we have a sock category but we'll see. I'll share if I do decide to enter. I work the fair and am allowed to enter as long as it isn't an area I manage and knitted or other handcrafts are not under my supervision. Yeah me!

What is your favorite supper for a hot summer evening?
Tuna salad with ritz type crackers from Aldi's ~ yummy. Oh don't forget the homemade iced tea ~ delicious!

Recipe ~ just need a can of tuna (albacore is good), macaroni noodles, mayo, onions and seasonings ~ Adobo, season salt, pepper and onion powder if no onions. Thats all ~ so easy.

Tues Aug 5th ~ my day began w/work that allowed me to leave after only being there for 1hr. Yeah me! Then I began to take a long look at my vacation plans to Tx, they were looking very bleak. At this point, it didn't look as if we were going to make it and then I discovered that if I rented a car on thur it would be almost half the costs so I booked it for 3days at the reduced rate ~ knowing I had 2 free day coupons and went to bed around 3a. ;) Not much knitting but feeling better about getting away for a few days.

Wed Aug 6th ~ did some errands, found a hotel for dirt cheap and planned my projects for the Ravelympics and went to bed early.

Thur Aug 7th ~ wake up late, go figure and leave to p/u rental at 7:45a (pick up was for 8a). Stop at Wally World for snacks and then meet hubby at Sbux for some road brew. Sent dh to get breakfast at McDs while I grabbed a bargain on pb at Walgreens. We finally get back to house at 9:15a and pack up and leave at 10a. Now please note this is about 1hr later than planned. LOL Drive thru OK to TX ~ lovely drive with lake scenery and all. Pics are on dh's cell, I'm driving and no one takes out the camera. Arrive in Dallas about 2:15p and head over the Purple Cow for some grub ~ really wanted a purple vanilla milkshake. The burgers and fries were awesome as usual but the shakes were disgusting ~ watery, pale and tasteless. Now folks I must tell you this is not a Purple Cow milkshake, this is....I don't know what it was but it was gross. I was not happy to spend $55 and get a bad shake. Oh where is my Va Beach PC when you need it. We then left and arrive at our hotel at about 4:45p ~ can we say not good. Remember I said the hotel was dirt cheap, well there was reason. It was a very old hotel (note: old and shabby, rundown are two different terms but for the sake of those who may love this hotel we will just say "old"). Our first room was really bad and they upgraded us to a suite which was much better. Dh was ready to leave but being as late as it was we'd end up paying for the night and still have to find something else. However, I must say there were 2 good features ~ 2 a/c units and access to all major highways ~ 30, 35 & 75 right at our door w/o the noise, now that was nice too. The girls and I left dh to enjoy the a/c to attend our conference in Fort Worth which was not a 36min drive as predicted by mapquest but an hr w/traffic due to construction on 30. Wow ~ we arrived about 15mins late and had to find a parking space. Not too bad for me but for Riley who wanted to go to youth ~ she wasn't happy about arriving late. LOL After this we all went to get some food from Jack in a Box but that wasn't good either ~ no one likes being overcharged do they?! We went to 7-11 for drinks and back to the hotel. It was nice to sleep in a cold room for a change.

Fri Aug 8th ~ Shabby SheepRavelympics begins today, I'm up at 6:30a to c/o at 7a but end up in the shower, pampering myself and not casting on until 10:00a. ;) Everyone got up around 9a and we left for Sbux at 10:15a. We stayed there for about 2hrs ~ maximum time allowed in parking space then we went looking for a yarn shop. The GPS directions turned us around, I left the mapquest ones in the room but we found it finally in a little quaint section of downtown Dallas. Shabby Sheep was really nice, we loved it and will definitely visit again. There were yarns from locate spinners that I'd love to have. Above pic of the place ~ very nice right?! After visiting for about an hr everyone was ready to eat so we had lunch at Pot Belly's recommended by our new friends at SS ~ its a sandwich joint and it was good especially the pickles! We returned to the hotel for a break then decided to go find the QT (Quik Trip) and after about 1hr 1/2 we found it (don't ask, just know it wasn't pretty or cool, well maybe the lake we found was pretty ;D) ~ purchased regular priced 32oz drinks (they are .49 at home but .89 here) and gas. We stopped off at Wally World Neighborhood and returned to the a/c'd hotel room. I relaxed while knitting and watching cable til dh mentioned dinner. We all got dressed and left for dinner at 9p. We couldn't decide what to eat and finally ended up at Buffalo Wild Wings were we watched the opening ceremonies of the olympics, the yankees, and tennis ~ all at the same time. We didn't make it to any of the conference mtgs but that was ok since I got to buy some lovely lace yarn in a beautiful red, pics later.

Sat Aug 9th ~ Ripley's Believe or NotSk8Chick and I went to the morning mtg after arranging for late checkout. We then checked out and started our journey back home. We took dh to run an errand then to Wendy's for lunch. After lunch we went back to the nice Sbux in Highland Park and stayed the maximum 2hrs ~ I think thats funny but its a strip mall next to SMU and you'd never be able to park if people stayed too long. Then I found out that the other yarn shop I wanted to see was no longer in busy and found the Woolie Ewe in the phone book. The only problem was they were only open til 4:30p and it was 2:30p and we didn't know where they were. Dh's GPS worked this time and they were 12m from where we were so we hopped in the car at 3:15p and arrived at 3:30p ~ who know it would only take about 10mins (I missed it and had to turn around). It was really a nice store ~ warehouse like. They had yarns I'd wanted to touch and feel for a while plus yarns I only have 1 or 2 balls of but now can get more if I want. It looks as if they have every color of Cascade there is along w/the handpaints ~ I was lovin' this visit. I sat in the floor at the clearance books ~ bought myself several but no yarn. I'll have to return another day when there is more time for that. I became friends w/one of the workers on Ravelry and I will definitely be going back. We left for home at 5p after a quick stop in Albertson's. Dh had to drive most of the way since I started to fall asleep. We stopped off at a roadside fruit stand which had lots of signs pointing them out on the road ~ delicious cantaloupe and peaches. We got peaches and cherries ~ Sk8Chick's fav. Off again and arrived home about 9:45p.

Sun Aug 10th ~ Returned rental car at 8a and returned home for a nap. We went to our sbux later but didn't do much b/c it was still vacation. ;)

Mon & Tues ~ normal days off, started packing for upcoming move, updated ravelry stash after finding yarns I forgot I owned; wind some hanks and label bags and boxes ~ really boring stuff but relaxed nonetheless. End of vacation.

Told you it would be boring but now you know. I think the best part was the decision I made on Friday to allow myself to relax no matter what we did. I am more relaxed and I don't feel the need to be doing something every minute. Though my knitting has turned into a slump ~ frogged that sock I was working on b/c I lost several sts but didn't recover them LOL, life is good and I'm taking control of it. If I had to sum up my vacation I would say:

I needed it more than anyone will ever know ~ I learned to be myself again ~ I learned to drive like a texan ~ I made new friends at lys and sbux ~ I enjoyed my family ~ I'm ready to do it again like next week and just might.

I just started a new One Row scarf using some stash I swiped from my dd ~ she just found it while packing up her room. It will be a nice skinny one for her and maybe she'll give me mine back. Ha...I know I'll never see it again as something for me but I can dream.

Well, I think thats enough rambling from me. I'm off to read others thoughts on life today. Have a wonderful weekend, I will since I don't go back to work until tues and have plans to knit and maybe a road trip ~ I'll keep you posted. Good nite!

why you say ~ because I received really cool things. ;) Yesterday, I received my 2nd medal and

bouquet at Ravelymics ~ Event: Gift Knits Pentathlon.

Then I received this in the mail:

I got some yummy new chocolates to try ~ Bug Bites & Chimp Mints

I got Sparking Bath Antistree in vanilla-bergamont soap ~ I think I better use it tonite ;D

I got a knitting button

and.....some lovely Pagewood Farm Sock yarn which is lovely shades of orange just like fall trees.

On the knitting front ~ my mojo has started to dry up. You read that right. I don't seem inspired to do anything. I can't find that lost ball of Cascade to finish off the B2S, my spare a square has become a nightmare ~ I had to rip back 10 rows and now there are 18 more to go. I tried to knit it in the car on the way to work ~ lost a needle ugh! Then tonight as I co for the sock put ~ you know I only have 10 days left ~ my knit pick #3 circs break. Oh no.....now I must use my dpns and I'm really slow using them. Though I love knittng w/them very much ~ using them relaxes me. Oh speaking of relaxing me, they relaxed me so much I fell asleep, lost a needle and a few sts and decided I better post my SP package before something else happens. LOL

I really want to finish strong in Ravelympics but it looks abit bleak at the moment since my work schedule is very hectic. I was also hoping to go to Stitches Midwest but I'm not up for driving 11hrs so I may not get to go. I did manage to get off work so maybe I'll do a shorter road trip to either TX or OKC. I'm not sure but I'll let you know what I decide. Though work is proving to be a challenge, I will soon have a break from it to work at the fair ~ woohoo! I'm not sure I'll be entering anything at this time ~ still thinking about it ~ but can't wait to eat some cotton candy, sausage n onions, cinnamon rolls and a yummy red candied apple. I'm getting fat thinking about it. ;)

Off to read a few blogs and emails then off to bed ~ up at 5a. Yeah I know too early and I'm really tired. Have a great one.

I won a medal and

received a lovely bouquet for my Scarf Stroke event.

Yeah me! Congrats to all the finishers ~ there are alot of them. Some have even finished more than 2 items per event. Wow ~ not sure I want to be that speedy but it has been a blast. Looking forward to watching more of the Olympics and finishing the last 2 events.

More as soon as I've decided on the yarn and that should hopefully be tonight. However, I'm not allowing myself to co til I finish the "spare a square" for colorcrazed. Its becoming a bane of my existence ~ keeping losing sts usually the yo but I'll keep plugging along. Btw, the Happy Feet yarn is no longer on my favs list ~ too nappy, felts on itself, taggles really bad and not as smooth as I like it. Nonetheless, the colorways are beautiful. I believe I'll gift the remainder of the ball w/its pal skein. After winding another skein ~ a lovely blue shade ~ Riley has swiped it. I believe she plans to make baby socks. LOL

I need to update on our trip, my knitting, my life ~ ok maybe not my life that would be boring. I'm really not in the mood to blog so I'll save that for another day. ;)
