Ravelry Tea Swap 2 ~ My partner Theresa aka Sylph was a great spoiler. She sent a very nice package. I love everything. Oh, do you want to know whats in it?! ;D

Teas ~ bags of Orange Dulce, Market Spice, Oregon Chai and Black Chai along with tin of Village Yarn & Tea blend
Yarn ~ Classic Elite yarns Waterlily and Blue Sky Alcapas Hill Top Brushed Suri and all in reds :D

Goodies ~ box of snickerdoodles and 3400 Phinney Bread & Chocolate Dark chocolate ~ hmm sounds good though I don't usually eat dark chocolate.

Lovely ~ a porcelain tea bag holder shaped like a teapot.

Can't wait to use of my new goodies but it will have to wait, at least for the yarn. heehee

My International Scarf Exchange package arrived yesterday looking like this. ;D

This is what was inside ~ a lovely red lace scarf made from Frog Tree Brushed Suri, a starbucks card in a mitten and a lovely card. Betsy was my spoiler and she did a lovely job on my scarf. She even made the ribbon out of the yarn. I can't wait to wear it and I hope to take pics of myself doing so soon. Thank you very much, Betsy ~ its simply beautiful.

Here are close ups of the lace pattern:

I think I'll need to re-take these during the daylight hours so you can see the details better.

Quick Update

Whew! its been a busy few days and will only get more so as the holidays approach. I only have a few minutes but wanted to post a quick note that all is well on the homefront. I received 2 packages one from my ISE5 pal and the other from my Ravelry Tea Swap. I'll post pics and details tomorrow. I've also finished a "calorimetry" and began another that is almost done. I'm going to send my Xmas partner the new one. ;D
Well gotta go ~ have a great week!

~ 12 Days to my B-Day #12 ~

Gift #12
"The Reading Woman" 2008 Calendar

In use already ~ shameless, I know! ;D

~ My Birthday ~

Hello everyone, hope you all had a wonderful weekend and got to remember, thank and celebrate veteran's day. I celeberated my bur-day and had good time. I see several of you have been keeping up w/my 12 days to birthday gifts from dh and I did get a present yesterday, one I wasn't expecting because I had planned to get it next week myself. He snuck around the store and bought it behind my back. heehee....more on that in the next post.

Yesterday, wasn't exactly how I had planned to spend my day. It started about 12:01a with me singing "happy bur-day to me". ;D then I went to bed at 1a, hubby gave me my present at midnight which is why I was up plus I had to take pictures of it and of my other presees (presents ;D). I got up about 8a and cleaned up the kitchen, made coffee, cleaned up after the dog, did my flylady thingy drill ~ you know dress to shoes yada yada, cleared off the dining room table and clipped coupons, put a relaxer in my hair, then I took a nap. ;D Very boring, I know but thats what I did for the first half of my day. Then I talked to a few friends, decided to go to the knitter's guild meeting, ordered 5 pizzas for dinner ~ yummy, left to p/u friend for meeting, picked up Sk8Chick from work and spent the evening knitting and looking at yarn. I did buy some new yarn too and joined the guild. I was treated to starbucks and then went home to bed. I was in bed by 12:01a ~ my bur-day was over til next year. heehee!

So what didn't I do that I had planned ~ get a massage, get a facial/makeover, shop all day, go to dinner at Logan's and color my hair. LOL I've been pmsing most of the weekend and I had managed to do just about everything I wanted to do to celebrate my birthday days before. So I'm very happy ~ doin' the happy dance. I got to go to my fav LYS 3x, I got to go to the bookstore, I got to go to a different LYS, I got a whole plate of singapore noodles to myself, I spent the day w/dh also one w/the girls, I got to hangout a starbucks 4x, I got 2lbs of christmas blend, I got a buttered rum candle, my favorite chocolate, lots of attention ~ you know you need that when you get older and overall, I had a wonderful 11 days to my birthday even w/the tire incident ~ one of our tires exploded and we had to get a new one yesterday. ;D The best part ~ I didn't feel depressed, down, dejected or anything on my birthday ~ I simply enjoyed the entire day even though it was pain filled (cramps). I mention this b/c I usually am so excited about my birthday before the day and by the actual day no longer care or thrilled. Not this year ~ yipee! I loved the entire day, well Icould have used a fill on those nails but don't tell anyone. ;D

Here are pics of some presees from friends ~ I even got ecards from various email lists I'm on. Now how cool is that?!

I'm off to color my hair and take a nap, I work later this evening. Have a great day!

Knitting meets fishing ;(

well by the title you will surmise that it wasn't a good meeting and you'd be right. My monkey sock yarn was sliced by my dh's fishing line by non-other than myself. I've been taking my knitting along in the car and forget to take it out. Hubby has been fishing, his rod and my knitting was on the same side of the car. As I reached to pull up my bag with the ISE5 project, I yanked up the monkey sock from its bag and managed to wrap it in the fishing rod. I didn't think anything of it, I thought I just goofed and removed the yarn from the rod and restored both to their original position. This morning dh brought the bag in but the yarn bag, the sock and the carrying bag were separate on the table. As I put things back in order, I noticed this:

what a shame ~ though its a clean cut its unfortunately when I don't have enough to make the full monkey sock to begin with. Oh well, I must be more careful in the future so that my projects don't meet w/his fishing rods again. ;D

I've been working more at the store, so I'm a bit tired but I did manage to get some reading done and knitting on my ISE5. I only have about 14 repeats ~ 112 rows, and I'll be done. I'm listening to Persuasion too ~ the abridged version but is not very enjoyable for various reasons one being the cds are very scratched and the other the shorten version seems to be missing something. I've read about 30 pages of the FKC, which is turning out to be very good.

Off to read a little more and listen a few more minutes w/da boy ~ he decided that he wanted to listen to Lion in the Valley. Its a 10 disc set and I'm on disc 5 but da boy is on disc 2. heehee, I get to hear it again before its over. Have a great night all.

Knitting updates

I've been knitting though I've not said much about it in the past few days ~ I'd say I was abit preoccupied with my gifts. :D However, I've managed to make some really good progress with my ISE5 scarf and believe I'll be able to get it done pretty quickly. I'm enjoying the Noro silk garden alot and think I will make another one for my best friend in a beautiful midnight shade of the yarn. I'll pick it up this weekend and get started once this one is done.

I'm working on a pair of monkey socks too. Unfortunately, I lost one of my brand new dpns and have not worked on it in the past week. I'm going to transfer the sock to a circ and use magic loop to finish so I can have some lovely socks as a belated birthday present to myself. Don't think I'll get them done in a week but I'll try.

I've not worked on my "not peds" so they are no further than they were last week. I need to get busy on them but I know the issue is I really am not enjoying magic loop. Since I do have all 5 dpns needed for them, I may transfer them so that I can get them done especially since they only take a week to get done. ;D

Other news on the homefront ~ I've joined several groups on ravelry and I am enjoying it alot. Downside ~ I joined another swap when I was suppose to be on a swap diet. Its a tea swap which I really wanted to do before the year was out. I've enjoyed my swapping and will continue until the first of the year. I'm not planning to join any more past the few I'm currently in though I joined the Sock It to Me Duex which actually is a 3 month secret swap. Its the only one scheduled for the new year which I look forward to doing. I need to pickup one or two items for my coffee/tea/SP11 swaps and get them to the PO at the end of the week. I will have the ISE5, the Christmas swap, and the dishcloth addicts ~ yes, this is new, left to be sent. I'll spend the weekend working on the finally projects since I don't work ~ its my birthday weekend and it will be fun and relaxing to make things for others while listening to music or audio books.

Work has begun in full force for the holiday season and I'm enjoying that too. I've started 2 new books; one audio ~ Lions in the Valley, Amelia Peabody series and The Friday Night Knitting Club. I joined a group called "Read ~ Knit ~ Cook" on ravelry and we are reading Friday Night together and making a scarf along with the muffins found in the back of the book. I look forward to casting on for the Knitted Scarf, which is an easy knit pattern by Moda Dea, this weekend and making the muffins for sunday breakfast.

Speaking of breakfast, I'm revising our weekly menus so that I can get meals on the table again. I am feeling the need to return to several of my domestic duties and I'm enjoying it. I've tomorrow's dinner ready though it was suppose to be tonight's. I may expand on this another day, just know I've made good use of my crockpot.

Well, I'm getting a bit tired and would like to read about 10 pages of the book and get a few rows done on my ISE5 scarf. Have a great night!

~ 12 Days to my B-Day #5 ~

So today dh decided to be a wise guy and give me a card. Not your average birthday card either ~ but one that was totally not funny. Well maybe a little bit funny, but don't tell him I said so.

Here's another look at it and I'll write out each saying below. Enjoy a good laugh on me. Btw ~ did I mention I'm turning 40. Yippee!

What they say statements are:
You're in your prime
You look good for your age
You're young at heart
You're in your golden years
You're mature
You're X years young

What they mean statements are all the same ~ You're old!

Wow and to think that I was very gracious and ask people not to treat him like he was over the hill and old when he turned 40. Oh well, guess I may have deserve this one after talking about his grey hair once or twice. heehee.

~ 12 Days to my B-Day #3 & 4 ~

Hey look what I got ~ cool huh, there even is a side view of my "Boo". I was planning to get one for my dc. Well, I guess they will get something else. ;D
